Hyderabad Police Tightens Lodge Regulations After Controversial Gathering

Hyderabad: The Commissioner of Police, Hyderabad City, recently held a meeting with more than 200 hotel and lodge owners and managers from the North Zone. This meeting was led by the Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) North Zone. Its purpose was to ensure that these establishments follow the rules under the Telangana State Public Safety Act, trade license regulations, and other legal requirements.

This meeting came after an incident involving the ‘Metropolis’ hotel in the Gopalapuram Police Station area. The hotel had been hosting a month-long event with participants from several states. One of the participants has been linked to the desecration of the Muthyalamma Temple (Case No. 234/2024). The event was organized by Mr. Munawar Zama, who claimed that the event was for English-speaking and personality development classes. The event had around 151 participants, and more than 50 rooms were rented without proper permissions or notifying the authorities.

Because of these violations, the trade license of Hotel Metropolis has been suspended, and the hotel is being sealed by the authorities. Additionally, the Gopalapuram Police have registered Case No. 349/2024 against both the event organizer and the hotel management.

During the meeting, hotel and lodge owners were reminded about the important safety measures they need to follow. These include keeping a proper Register of Visitors and submitting daily entries to the local police. They were also instructed to store identification proof of all guests and install CCTV cameras with backup as required by the Public Safety Act.

The hotel managers were also told to inform the police about any commercial events happening on their premises and ensure they get the necessary permissions beforehand. They were warned to prevent any illegal activities, such as drug dealing or prostitution, from taking place in their establishments. If such activities occur, the management will be held responsible.

Finally, the owners were advised to strengthen their security systems. This includes having Door Frame Metal Detectors (DFMD), Hand Held Metal Detectors (HHMD), and enough security personnel on duty.

This meeting shows the Hyderabad Police’s commitment to maintaining public safety and ensuring that all hotels and lodges follow the law, creating a safe environment for both residents and visitors.
