Hyderabad Police Arrest Six in Ganja Peddling Case
The Hyderabad Commissioner’s Task Force East Zone team, in collaboration with the Humayun Nagar police, arrested six individuals involved in transporting and selling ganja. The authorities seized 14.5 kilograms of the narcotic substance, estimated to be worth ₹3.9 lakh. Among those arrested were peddlers Hazari Dinesh Singh, alias Tinku Singh (35), Susheel Singh (28), Mukesh Singh (28), Shiv Singh (28), and transporters Ajit Nayak (26) and Jishesh Mali, alias Jelu (22), both natives of Gajapati District, Odisha. Notably, Dinesh Singh had been previously arrested in a similar case.
According to the police, Dinesh Singh had a history of procuring ganja in bulk from areas like Odisha and Vizag in Andhra Pradesh. His criminal record dates back to 2011 when he was first arrested by Shahinayathgunj police. Over the years, he was also apprehended by Tappachabutra, Mangalhat, Yacharam, and Dhoolpet Excise police. Despite repeated arrests and being sent to judicial custody, Dinesh’s involvement in illegal activities continued. In 2021, he was detained under the Preventive Detention (PD) Act by Tappachabutra police due to his persistent criminal behavior.
Despite his repeated arrests, Dinesh resumed his operations, procuring ganja and working with accomplices Susheel Singh, Mukesh Singh, and Shiv Singh to sell it in Hyderabad and nearby areas. Together, they operated a retail distribution network for the narcotic substance.
The police revealed that Dinesh sourced the ganja from a supplier named Kunu in Odisha. He would send transporters Ajit Nayak and Jishesh Mali to deliver the contraband to him in Hyderabad, enabling his peddling operations.
