Hyderabad Police Commissioner CV Anand has taken action against Sandhya Theater at RTC Crossroad by issuing show cause notices. The theater management has been asked to explain why their license should not be canceled due to negligence during the premiere of the movie Pushpa-2 on the night of December 4th. The management has been given ten days to respond to the notice.
Reports from social media revealed that the Chikkadapalli police had earlier warned the theater about security concerns if actors were to visit the premises. The location of the theater, with restaurants on both sides, was noted as a potential risk. Sandhya 70MM and 35MM theaters, which are situated in the same area, have a combined seating capacity of around 2,520. However, the theaters lack proper facilities, such as separate entry points or signage for women, and only have one general entrance for all audiences.
The police investigation found that the theater management encouraged a larger crowd but failed to implement measures to control it. This negligence led to a tragic stampede during actor Allu Arjun’s visit to the theater, resulting in the death of a woman and severe injuries to a boy. Authorities are treating the incident seriously. While Allu Arjun has already been arrested in connection with the case, the police have now shifted focus to the theater’s management and have issued a notice threatening to revoke their license.
