Hyderabad: The Hyderabad Commissioner’s Task Force, Central Zone Team, in collaboration with Khairtabad Police, arrested a man for supplying hookah pots and flavors through an online service.
The arrested individual has been identified as Nagaraju Raju, also known as Raja King, aged 29. He is a resident of Marithi Nagar in Khairtabad and originally hails from the Tramlined State. Raju had a prior criminal record, having been arrested under various sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and the Cigarettes and Other Tobacco Products (COTP) Act in Ghatkesar.
During the arrest, the police seized six hookah pots, seven chillams, 11 hookah pipes, and other related materials. Officials revealed that Raju and his family had moved to Hyderabad, where his parents operated a tiffin center. Raju had previously worked at Chillax Cafe & Lounge in Banjara Hills before coming up with a plan to deliver hookah pots and flavors directly to customers.
Raju developed online contacts to receive orders and charged Rs 2,000 per pot. The items he supplied contained nicotine, violating the COTP Act and earning him money illegally. He was caught on Thursday while delivering the hookah pots and flavors to his customers. The seized materials have been handed over to Khairtabad police for further investigation and action.
