Union Minister G Kishan Reddy honored Dr Louis Braille on his 217th birth anniversary. He highlighted that the Central government, under Prime Minister Narendra Modi, has ensured equal rights for all specially-abled individuals in the country. Reddy mentioned that approximately three percent of the population in India is disabled.
The Minister also mentioned that the government has implemented various initiatives for the welfare of disabled individuals. This includes increasing the reservations for disabled persons from four percent to seven percent and expanding the disabled categories from seven to 21. Additionally, the government has provided necessary assistive devices to support disabled people in the country.
