To combat the cold weather, wrestlers in Rangareddy are gearing up for a two-day wrestling championship. The World Professional Wrestling Hub (WPWH) and BAMAS Akhada, Barkas, in collaboration with the Samaj Sevak Welfare Association, will be organizing the event at Barkas Playground starting from January 27.
Wrestlers from different clubs, known as ‘akhadas’ in the city and surrounding areas, will compete against each other for the prestigious title of ‘Kesari’. This title is given to a skilled wrestler who defeats all opponents with agility and technique during the competitions.
The president of the Hyderabad Amateur Wrestling Association, B Santosh Yadav, provided details about the championship during a press conference. He mentioned that the event is titled “24th Hyderabad Kesari” and the weighing of wrestlers will take place on January 25 at Barkas Playground. Only one wrestler from each weight category will be allowed to participate, and the rules mandated by the Wrestling Federation of India will be followed. Former title winners are not eligible to participate in this competition.

The matches will be supervised by experienced wrestlers who have represented the State in competitions across the country.
The press conference was attended by former wrestler Osman Al-Hajri, the vice-president of the association, as well as J Shalender Singh and C Kiran Yadav, the general secretaries. Naser Khulaqhi, the joint secretary, and Mohd Islam, the organizing secretary, were also present.
