Khammam is becoming an important area for the Congress and the BRS. There is a strong competition for the 10 Assembly seats in the old Khammam district.

The Congress is happy because Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy, a member of the ruling party, has joined them. However, BRS leader K Chandrashekhar Rao is trying to weaken the Congress in Khammam.

The BRS is trying to convince strong anti-Revanth group leaders in the Congress to join them. It is uncertain whether they will succeed.

There are rumors that KCR has convinced about a dozen Congress leaders, including two MLAs, to join the BRS. There are claims that Damodara Rajanarasimha may also join them. KCR believes that if the BRS can win over important Congress leaders in Khammam and other districts, it will weaken the Congress. There are also talks of other leaders joining the BRS, such as N Uttam Kumar Reddy and P Sudarshan Reddy from old Nalgonda and Khammam districts respectively, as well as leaders from Mahbubnagar, Rangareddy, and Warangal districts. The BRS is focusing on these areas where they are weak.
