The Panchayat Raj department in Hyderabad has told junior panchayat secretaries to return to work by 5 pm on Tuesday or face being fired. The secretaries are on strike because they want their services to be regularised. The government has said that forming a union violates the agreement bond the secretaries signed, and that they cannot demand regularisation. The government will evaluate the performance of contract employees and only those who perform well will be regularised. Despite knowing all of this, the secretaries formed a union and went on strike unlawfully. The notice gives them one last chance to return to work, or else they will be fired.
