Dental Associations Demand Action Against Fake Dentists
The All India Dental Students Association (AIDSA) and the All India Dental Surgeons Association (AIDSA – Surgeons Wing) have formally requested all state Dental Council of India (DCI) offices to take immediate action against unqualified individuals practicing dentistry illegally.
AIDSA president Dr. MD Manzur highlighted the dangers of dental quackery in India. He warned that unqualified practitioners not only harm public health but also damage the reputation of the dental profession. These fake dentists often fail to sterilize their instruments properly, which can spread serious diseases like Hepatitis B, Hepatitis C, and HIV.
Dr. Manzur also pointed out that incorrect treatments and the use of low-quality materials by these quacks have led to severe complications, including oral cancer. Since they lack proper training, they often misdiagnose conditions and perform unsafe procedures, which can cause lifelong harm to patients.
The AIDSA urged all state governments to follow Telangana’s example in tackling this issue. The Telangana State Medical Council has taken strong steps to combat quackery, and other states should do the same to protect public health.
Both associations called on the government, health authorities, and the public to support their fight against fake dentists. They emphasized the importance of seeking treatment only from registered and qualified dental professionals to ensure safety and proper care.
