Hyderabad Celebrates Holi with Colors, Music, and Festivities
Hyderabad came alive as people celebrated Holi with bright colors, energetic music, and delicious festive treats. Crowds gathered in different areas, dancing, sharing joy, and enjoying traditional sweets and snacks.
Several popular neighborhoods, including Begumpet, Gachibowli, Hi-Tec City, Miyapur, Secunderabad, and Necklace Road, turned into lively party spots. People played with colors, swayed to music, and enjoyed street food like samosas, chaat, gujiya, and buttermilk, adding to the festive atmosphere.
To ensure the celebrations remained safe and peaceful, police increased security in key areas. Reinforcements were deployed across the city to prevent any disturbances, especially near Mecca Masjid, where large crowds gathered for Friday prayers. Around 2,000 officers from different security forces were stationed in the Old City, particularly in the southern division.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (South West Zone) G. Chandra Mohan stated that additional security forces, including four platoons and 400 extra officers, were assigned to areas like Asif Nagar, Goshamahal, Golconda, and Kulsumpura. Officers patrolled these locations, keeping a close watch on public gatherings.
Rachakonda Police Commissioner G. Sudheer Babu emphasized that all officers were on high alert and ready to respond quickly if needed. A total of 16 platoons, along with specialized units such as Cyber Crimes, Special Operations Team, She Teams, and the City Crime Record Bureau, were deployed to maintain order.
Traffic police also conducted strict checks to prevent reckless driving and ensure road safety. Joint Commissioner Joel Davis reported that on Thursday, enforcement teams inspected 15 locations across the city. Police closely monitored underage drivers and those riding with more than two passengers on a bike. These checks continued through the night, with some officers remaining on duty until early morning on March 15.
