Several polling stations in Secunderabad Cantonment have been transformed into eco-friendly voting booths to raise awareness about climate change and promote sustainable practices. These voting booths aim to attract voters and ensure a good turnout while reminding them to embrace eco-friendly habits.
In addition to setting up five eco-friendly voting booths, the Secunderabad Cantonment constituency has also arranged for polling stations managed by women, Persons With Disabilities (PWD), and youth. The Election Commission of India (ECI) has introduced innovative methods for this election, integrating voter awareness with green initiatives.
The eco-friendly polling stations have been set up without using any plastic. Instead, they are furnished with wooden benches, display boards, decorations made from sustainable materials, and drinking water provided in earthen pots and tumblers. Officials hope that these efforts will not only encourage voter participation but also promote eco-friendly practices among electors.
The final electoral rolls show a total of 2,53,706 voters in the Secunderabad Cantonment constituency, with 1,26,699 males, 1,26,997 females, and 10 others. A total of 232 polling stations have been shortlisted, with approximately 2,000 polling staff and police personnel deployed to manage them. Special arrangements, including wheelchairs for PWD and senior citizens, are being made to ensure smooth voting process.
