Hyderabad: Rajiv Gandhi International Airport (RGIA) in Hyderabad was placed on high alert following a series of alarming emails warning of potential RDX attacks. The first email, received on Thursday morning, triggered immediate responses from security forces including the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF), RGI airport police, Telangana police, and central agency teams.
Despite extensive searches prompted by the initial threat, authorities concluded it was a hoax. However, the situation escalated when similar threatening emails arrived later on Thursday evening and again on Friday, prompting repeated security drills. Each time, investigations concluded that the threats were unfounded.
The RGI airport police, led by Deputy Commissioner of Police, Shamshabad, K Narayana Reddy, have launched a thorough investigation to track down the sender(s) of these hoax emails. Security measures at the airport remain heightened as authorities work diligently to ensure the safety and security of all passengers and personnel.
Authorities urge the public to remain calm but vigilant and report any suspicious activities or information to the relevant authorities promptly.
