A massive fire broke out early Monday morning at Dewan Devdi market in Pathergatti, Old City, Hyderabad. The fire caused extensive damage, gutting multiple shops.

As soon as the fire was reported, the fire department rushed to the scene with multiple fire tenders to control the flames. Officials stated that the fire began in a textile shop and spread to neighboring stores. Fifteen fire engines were deployed to tackle the fire, but firefighters faced difficulties due to the narrow lanes, dense commercial area, and flammable materials.

More than 30 shops, mainly textile stores, were affected by the fire. Although the exact financial loss has not been confirmed, shop owners estimate that goods worth crores of rupees were destroyed.

The Joint Commissioner of Police and other officials supervised the firefighting operations. The exact cause of the fire is still unknown, but the police have registered a case and started an investigation.

Interestingly, a similar fire accident occurred on Sunday in a plastic manufacturing unit in the Katedan Industrial area. The fire department responded quickly and managed to extinguish the flames. The cause of that fire is also yet to be determined.
