The Commissioner of Police in Karimnagar, L Subbarayudu, has said that a new application called CEIR will make it easier for people to recover lost or stolen mobile phones. The police force has already organised training for staff on how to use the app. CEIR allows the police to trace lost or stolen phones anywhere. If someone loses their phone, they need to report it to the police or through Mee-seva. Before buying a second-hand phone, people should check its details on the app, including the IMEI number, to see if it has been reported lost or stolen.

Subbarayudu has encouraged police officials to raise awareness about CEIR so people know how to use it. Anyone can access the app by visiting the ceir.gov.in website. They must fill in details about the lost or stolen phone, including the IMEI number, company name, and model. Once this information is entered, the phone company will disable the phone through CEIR policy. If someone later finds their lost phone, they can unlock it through the same website by entering an ID number.

Subbarayudu has stressed the importance of reporting a lost phone as soon as possible. Recently, a man named Bodla Ramesh reported his missing phone to the Karimnagar Rural Police Station. The police used the CEIR system to find the phone and return it to Ramesh.
