During a meeting with Health Department officials on Wednesday, District Collector C. Narayana Reddy emphasized the need for better sanitation in municipalities. He highlighted the importance of preventing drinking water pipeline leakages and ensuring consistent electricity supply to avoid loss of life.

He instructed Municipal Commissioners and Health Department officials to start a “household fever survey” in all municipalities from the 26th of this month. On Wednesday, he reviewed plans with the District Collector and Municipal Commissioner.

As part of the fever survey, teams made up of Mepma staff and Health Department personnel have been formed. These teams will be trained on Thursday, and the survey will commence on Friday. The Collector stressed that teams must carefully record all details in a register and not be negligent. Additionally, they should conduct mosquito prevention programs during their house visits.

Municipal Commissioners were directed to focus on sanitation within their areas. This includes using grass cuttings, preventing water accumulation, and removing weeds. Sanitation should not be compromised under any circumstances.

In municipalities, any leakages in drinking water pipelines should be identified and fixed immediately to prevent water pollution. Regular drinking water supply must be ensured, and necessary repairs should be undertaken without delay.

Additional measures include setting up fences for copper-less transformers, preventing electrocution in public places, maintaining street lights, and addressing rusted electricity poles. Homes should be protected, and public awareness should be raised.

The goal is for 100 percent of municipalities to address these issues promptly. The municipal and electricity authorities need to ensure all these measures are implemented.

Moreover, attention should be given to planting and caring for trees. Municipalities should maintain cleanliness, adhere to staff rules, and provide proper responses to residents who come to municipal offices for assistance.
