Kothagudem: Nalla Suresh Reddy, the founder of the Shyamala Gopalan Educational Foundation (SGEF) in Paloncha, is conducting an 11-day special prayer, called a homam, for Kamala Harris’s success in the upcoming US presidential election. The prayer, known as the Rajashyamala yagam, started on October 20. Around 50 priests, known as ritwiks, are participating in the event. A priest from the Ayodhya Rama temple, Sridharcharya, also visited and took part in the ceremony.

Suresh Reddy is personally connected to Kamala Harris’s family. The SGEF was created in honor of Kamala Harris’s late mother, Shyamala Gopalan, who was originally from Tamil Nadu. The foundation focuses on helping underprivileged people, especially in the areas of education and healthcare.

Reddy shared that three underprivileged students received financial aid to study medicine (MBBS), and medical procedures for children with hearing impairments were provided at a cost of Rs 15 lakh. Additionally, 40 patients received support to undergo free surgeries at Sri Satya Sai Super Speciality Hospital in Puttaparthi.

Reddy also mentioned that on the final day of the homam, several supporters of Kamala Harris from the US, along with Karnataka’s Deputy Chief Minister D.K. Shiva Kumar and other notable figures, will join in the concluding ceremony, known as the ‘purnahuti’.
