Hyderabad: HMWSSB Managing Director Ashok Reddy and HMDA Commissioner Sarfaraz Ahmed carried out an inspection in the Neopolis and Kokapet areas on Monday. The visit focused on assessing the land allotted for constructing a reservoir to meet the future water needs of these areas.

During the inspection, they discussed taking water from the Godavari Phase-II project and transporting it to the Khanapur balancing reservoir. The board proposed allocating land in Neopolis to build a balancing reservoir, a pump house, and a local reservoir. Officials were instructed to prepare plans to supply water to nearby areas using gravity from these facilities.

Later, Ashok Reddy inspected the Khanapur balancing reservoir. He highlighted the potential for the city to receive water through gravity from various sources, including the Manjeera, Krishna, and Godavari projects. He directed officials to develop proposals for constructing a reservoir and water treatment plants to address future water requirements.

The managing director also reviewed the construction of pressure filters at the Kokapet board reservoir. He instructed that the work be completed by February 15. A senior HMWSSB official explained that water could be collected directly from the conduit, purified using these filters, and supplied to surrounding areas once the construction is finished.
