The state government is getting closer to investigating former MAUD minister KT Rama Rao and former secretary to Municipal Administration Arvind Kumar for alleged irregularities in the sale of HMDA lands, ORR toll gate auction, and formula E race. The MAUD department is preparing a detailed report on projects from the previous government, where misuse of funds and ‘quid pro quo’ deals were reported.
This issue is expected to become a major political topic during the upcoming Lok Sabha polls. The previous government may try to gain sympathy from voters if the current government takes hasty actions like filing cases. However, the government is taking its time to gather all necessary information before making any moves, despite potential accusations of inaction from the BJP regarding HMDA.
Officials are collecting data on various projects like skyways, flyovers, urban parks, and other developments to understand how funds were used. The government suspects that large sums of money designated for infrastructure projects were misused by the previous administration. Investigations are ongoing into the misuse of funds for the formula E race and the sale of HMDA lands during the previous government’s rule.
Following the arrest of Siva Balakrishna, the ACB has gathered information on the alleged HMDA land scam. There are suspicions of significant investments made by influential BRS leaders under fake names. A report will soon be submitted to the Chief Minister, who will then seek legal advice on whether to take legal action or launch criminal proceedings against those involved.
