Hyderabad witnessed a major change in the police department as the entire staff of 85 members at Punjagutta police station was transferred to the City Armed Reserve (CAR) headquarters. This police station had previously been ranked second for Best Police Station in India.

The reason behind this transfer was the allegations of corruption, professional negligence, and charges of graft against the policemen. The Commissioner suspended Punjagutta Station House Officer, P Durga Rao, for his alleged involvement in helping a person escape from the country and trying to frame someone else in a drunk driving case.

There were also cases of negligence, such as a man escaping from police custody after being arrested for driving into pedestrians. Complaints of misbehavior towards women who came to lodge complaints also surfaced. Additionally, there were suspicions that some policemen were leaking confidential information to BRS party leaders.
