The sinking of some pillars of the Laxmi barrage at Medigadda has given a boost to the Congress and BJP. They have been using the Kaleshwaram project as a campaign issue, claiming that there has been corruption in its execution. Even Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Amit Shah have accused the ruling party of using the project as an ATM.
G Kishan Reddy, the BJP chief, has called for a comprehensive inspection by the Dam Safety Authority (DSA). Meanwhile, A Revanth Reddy, the TPCC chief, has demanded a high-level inquiry into the incident. He believes that the sinking of the pillars within four years raises suspicions about the quality of materials used in the construction of the barrage. He has urged Amit Shah, the Union Home Minister, the Telangana government, and the Election Commission of India to order a thorough investigation.
