Businessman Seeks Protection After Police Raid

Hyderabad: Businessman Raj Pakala, whose farmhouse in Janwada was raided during an alleged rave party, has been summoned by the Cyberabad police for questioning. The Mokila police asked him to appear following a case registered against him. Instead of complying immediately, Pakala approached the Telangana High Court, seeking protection from arrest after receiving police notices.

Raj Pakala is the brother-in-law of K T Rama Rao, the working president of the BRS party. On Monday, the Mokila police issued a notice under Section 35 (3) of the BNSS, instructing him to appear for questioning. The case was filed under various sections of the NDPS Act and the Telangana State Gambling Act. The notice warned Pakala that if he failed to come forward, necessary action would be taken.

Since Raj Pakala could not be contacted directly, the police pasted the notice on his house in Orion Villas, Raidurgam. The notice stated that if he did not comply, he could be arrested under multiple provisions of the BNSS.

In response, Pakala challenged the police notice in the Telangana High Court. He claimed the police were attempting to implicate him unlawfully in a criminal case and that there was no justification for his arrest. In his petition, he requested the court to prevent his arrest.

The High Court ordered the police not to take any coercive action against Pakala. However, the court directed him to appear before the Station House Officer (SHO) of Mokila and cooperate with the ongoing investigation.

The raid on Raj Pakala’s farmhouse took place on October 26, involving both the police and the Excise Department. Foreign liquor and games were seized during the raid, and drug tests were conducted on the attendees. Although no drugs were found at the event, an associate of Pakala, Vijay Madduri, tested positive for cocaine.

In addition to the police case, the Excise Department has filed a separate case against Raj Pakala. The Excise Circle Inspector, Srilatha, stated that the farmhouse supervisor, Karthik, is the main accused in the case, while Raj Pakala has been listed as the second accused.
