Hyderabad: The Telangana Tourism Development Corporation (TGTDC) is offering a unique road-cum-cruise ride on the River Krishna, which provides a thrilling experience for nature lovers and those looking to escape the busy city life. This special seven-hour journey happens on weekends and promises a refreshing experience.

The journey covers a 120-kilometer stretch from Somashila near Kollapur to Srisailam. Passengers travel through the scenic Amrabad and Nallamalla forests on a boat that cruises at a calm speed of 25 kmph. The river flows between green hills, creating a peaceful and soothing atmosphere for everyone on board.

One of the passengers, Shankar, shared his experience, saying that people who want peace of mind will love this trip because there is no mobile network during the journey. He added that families will enjoy the boat ride, and the sight of fishermen on small islands casting their nets adds to the charm of the adventure.

To keep passengers entertained, the tourism staff plays music, encouraging people to dance. They also organize a fun game of ‘Tambola’ while serving tea and snacks, ensuring that everyone has a good time.

The double-decker boat used for the cruise has a capacity of 120 people and even includes an air-conditioned area. According to General Manager Ibrahim from TSTDC, the response from the public has been very positive. The package is usually available from November to February, especially during Kartika Masam when many people visit temples. The package includes a visit to the Srisailam temple, where devotees can offer prayers to Lord Sri Bhramaramba Mallikarjuna Swamy.

For the journey to be profitable, at least 80 passengers need to board the bus. The package starts on Saturdays and ends on Sundays. It includes life jackets, drinking water, food, and tea for all passengers. However, the cruise will only be available as long as the water levels in Nagarjunsagar remain at 575 feet or higher, so those interested should act quickly.

The Tourism Corporation has been trying to start these road-cum-cruise packages for a few years, but only now, with increased water inflows into the River Krishna, have they been able to launch the service. Two packages are currently available: one from Nagarjunsagar to Srisailam, and another from Somashila to Srisailam.

The Nagarjunsagar to Srisailam package includes visits to the Srisailam Temple, Sakshi Ganapathi Temple, Srisailam Dam, Pathalaganga, Farahabad, and Nagarjunasagar Dam. The price for adults is Rs. 3,050, and for children, it is Rs. 2,450.

The Somashila to Srisailam package involves a boat journey to Srisailam, followed by a ropeway ride to the hilltop. Both packages offer a night stay with non-air-conditioned accommodation and a vegetarian meal on the boat. The price for adults is Rs. 4,499, and for children, it is Rs. 3,600.
