HerKey, India’s leading women’s career community, recently wrapped up a successful AccelHERate 2024 conference in Hyderabad. The event brought together top HR leaders, Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) advocates, and business executives who are focused on building more inclusive workplaces. Attendees had the chance to gain valuable insights and network with other DEI leaders from across India.
The conference agenda was packed with thought-provoking discussions and strategic sessions. Some of the key topics included “From Policy to Practice: Making Workplaces Truly Inclusive for Women” and “Breaking the Glass Ceiling: Paths to Leadership.” These sessions provided participants with ideas on how to create impactful DEI strategies and promote gender equality in the workplace. Additionally, Rainmaker’s workshop titled “Building a Culture of Compliance with DEIB” and a special solution showcase introduced innovative tools and approaches for implementing DEI initiatives. This year’s theme, #ForHer, celebrated the strength, resilience, and ambition of women across the country.
Neha Bagaria, Founder & CEO of HerKey, kicked off the event with a keynote speech. She emphasized the importance of allies—referred to as ‘ForHer’—in supporting women as they start, restart, or advance in their careers. Neha stated, “Together, we can create a world where women excel, not just in their careers but in every aspect of life.”
During her speech, Neha also shared findings from the DivHERsity Benchmarking Report 2023-2024. She highlighted how companies are adopting strong Diversity & Inclusion (D&I) policies to create more inclusive workplaces. According to the report, 65% of organizations surveyed have specific programs to support women returnees, and 72% have initiatives aimed at advancing women in leadership roles. Neha pointed out that these efforts show a clear commitment from companies to attract, retain, and empower women in their careers.
The event also stressed the importance of building relationships for professional growth. Mentors were compared to parents who guide and nurture, while sponsors were likened to godparents who advocate and create opportunities. Together, they form a powerful support system to help women achieve success in their careers.
Following the success of the Hyderabad edition, HerKey’s AccelHERate conference will continue its mission in Pune on November 19, 2024. The event aims to provide companies with the tools, strategies, and connections they need to make real progress in DEI efforts.
