The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has warned that heavy to very heavy rainfall is expected in the Telugu states of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana over the next two days. This weather is due to a surface trough formed in the Bay of Bengal and surface circulation from West Bengal and Bangladesh.
Meteorological officials have noted a cyclone centered 5.8 kilometers above sea level, impacting areas near Gangtok in West Bengal, as well as parts of Jharkhand and North Odisha. The weather patterns influenced by this trough will affect regions from North and South Rayalaseema to the Comorin area, reaching into interior Tamil Nadu at an altitude of 0.9 kilometers above mean sea level.
Because of these weather developments, a yellow alert has been issued in several districts of Telangana. These districts, which could see intense rainfall today, include Adilabad, Komurambhim Asifabad, Nirmal, Nizamabad, Jagityal, Rajanna Siricilla, Mahabubnagar, Vanaparthi, Jayashankar Bhupalapalli, Mulugu, and Bhadradri.
The IMD also predicts light showers along the south coast and light to moderate rain or thundershowers in the Rayalaseema region. Residents are advised to stay alert as these weather conditions may cause difficulties in the coming days.
