The Andhra Pradesh High Court has postponed the hearing on former Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu’s anticipatory bail petition in the free sand scam case to November 22. Naidu’s counsel argued that the case against him was politically motivated and aimed at keeping him in jail for a long time. They also claimed that the government was unhappy with the TDP’s campaign against its false sand policy.

The court has asked the APCID to file a counter and scheduled the next hearing for November 22. The APCID had filed an FIR based on a complaint by the Andhra Pradesh Mineral Development Corporation (APMDC). The APMDC alleged that Naidu and other accused, who were part of the previous state government, caused a loss of Rs 10,000 crore to the state exchequer through corruption disguised as the free sand policy.
