The Hyderabad Cricket Association (HCA) faced a surprise from the electricity department when the power was cut off at Uppal Stadium in Hyderabad. This happened because the management had not paid their electricity bills for several months. As a result, the authorities stopped the power supply to the stadium.

The incident occurred while the teams from Hyderabad and Chennai were practicing for their upcoming match at Uppal Stadium. The power supply was abruptly cut off by the electricity department due to the unpaid bills. Officials mentioned that the stadium had racked up a bill of Rs. 1.67 crore, which remained unpaid despite multiple reminders.

Despite receiving several notices to clear the pending bills, the HCA did not take any action leading to the power supply being disconnected. Additionally, a case of power theft was also filed against the organizers of Uppal Stadium. The Habsiguda electricity officials confirmed that they had warned the stadium management about their electricity usage without payment.

Currently, Uppal Stadium is relying on a generator for its power supply as a temporary solution after facing the consequences of non-payment of bills.
