Telangana High Court Hears Petition on “No Religion, No Caste” Option in Survey

On Tuesday, the Telangana High Court heard a case regarding a petition filed by Mohammad Waheed, president of Kula Nirmulana Sangham, and another individual. Both petitioners are residents of Peerzadiguda, in the Medchal-Malkajgiri district of Telangana.

The petitioners argued that the State government failed to consider their requests made on October 29 and November 1. These requests were submitted to the concerned State authorities, asking for the addition of a column in an upcoming survey. This column would allow people to voluntarily declare that they identify with “No Religion” and “No Caste.”

The survey in question is the Samagra Intinti Kutumba Survey, also known as the Comprehensive Social, Economical, Educational, Employment, Political, and Caste Survey. It is scheduled to begin on November 6. The petitioners claim that the government’s refusal to consider their request is illegal and unfair.
