The Health Minister of Telangana, T Harish Rao, has directed higher officials to expedite the establishment of nine new medical colleges in the state this year. In a meeting held to discuss the progress of these new colleges, the Minister announced that 67 individuals had already received promotions as part of the initiative. Additionally, 210 Associate Professors will be given postings within a week through counselling, while the appointment of 1,442 Assistant Professors has reached its final stage. The provisional merit list for Assistant Professors will be released in two to three days, with final appointment letters to follow within 10 days.

The Minister has instructed officials to provide all necessary facilities, including hostel accommodation and furniture and equipment, for medical students in these new colleges. He has also urged officials to ensure that all nine colleges meet the norms of the National Medical Commission (NMC) and receive approval from the organization. To this end, a video conference will be held on March 28 with Ministers, MLAs, district collectors, college principals, and engineers of the nine districts to discuss progress and expedite work.
