Hyderabad: Telangana opposition leader, MLA Harish Rao, has expressed concerns about the difficulties farmers in the state are facing. He accused Chief Minister Revanth Reddy of neglecting farmers’ welfare.
Rao pointed out that farmers are struggling with the current system for selling their harvested crops. He claimed that there is no proper support for purchasing paddy, which has left many farmers in financial trouble.
“Farmers are left with no options as the procurement system is broken. Despite waiting for more than a month at purchase centers, they still can’t sell their paddy. They are not getting the minimum support prices, and no additional bonuses are being provided,” said Harish Rao.
He also criticized the Congress leadership for not offering any support programs similar to the state’s “Rythu Bandhu” scheme, which gives financial aid to farmers.
The situation has led to a political debate over agricultural policies in Telangana. Harish Rao is urging the government to take immediate action to help farmers and improve the procurement system.
