Hyderabad: Former Minister Harish Rao has criticized the state government for not supporting farmers properly, especially when it comes to providing Minimum Support Prices (MSP). He said the government is neglecting farmers’ financial needs, and even when crops are bought, the money is not being deposited into the farmers’ bank accounts.
Rao made these comments after hearing reports of farmers protesting in different districts. These districts are where Civil Supplies Ministers are supposed to manage the buying of crops. He accused the government of breaking its promises and leaving farmers without the financial help they were expecting for their harvest.
“The government has failed in making sure that farmers get the support prices they were promised. Even when crops are purchased, the payments are not being made on time. This delay is causing frustration among farmers,” said Rao.
Rao also criticized the state’s ministers, accusing them of ignoring the farmers’ problems while traveling to other states. He pointed out that while ministers are away on tours, farmers in their own districts are protesting on the streets. “It’s clear that the ministers don’t care about the real issues farmers are facing,” he added.
Additionally, Rao dismissed the government’s claim of giving bonuses to farmers. He called the bonus scheme a “bogus” initiative, saying that most farmers have not received the promised bonus, which has further disappointed them with the government.
