BRS leader T Harish Rao strongly criticized Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy for poor financial management. He warned that the state was heading in the wrong direction under the current government.
Speaking during a budget discussion in the Assembly on Friday, Harish Rao accused the Congress government of making promises and then changing them. He stated that electing Revanth Reddy had become a major mistake for the state. He pointed out that the government claimed to have arranged ₹31,000 crore for loan waivers but allocated only ₹20,000 crore. Additionally, they did not clarify when the remaining amount would be provided. He also criticized the renaming of the Rythu Bandhu scheme to Rythu Bharosa, saying that the promised ₹15,000 per acre was not given.
Harish Rao further alleged that the government had not released any funds for interest-free loans. He also attacked the government for failing to construct houses as promised.
Regarding the job calendar, he claimed that it had become a “jobless calendar” under the Congress rule. He described the current governance as the worst and called the budget highly disappointing. He also pointed out that while Revanth Reddy had previously opposed selling government lands, his government was now planning to raise ₹50,000 crore by either selling or mortgaging them.
Harish Rao questioned the Congress government’s claims of an economic slowdown, asking why states like Karnataka, Maharashtra, and Tamil Nadu were not facing the same issue while Telangana was. Citing a CAG report, he stated that the government had earned ₹46,500 crore from GST in 2023-24 but projected ₹58,594 crore in the budget, expecting a 20% increase. However, in reality, the growth was only 5.5%. He added that while revenue from stamps and registrations had increased under the BRS regime, it was now showing negative growth. Dismissing the Congress’s claims, he said, “There is no worldwide slowdown; the slowdown is in their minds.”
