Hyderabad: A surprise meeting between Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy and senior BRS leader T Harish Rao at the Chief Minister’s Office (CMO) in the Assembly on Friday led to political speculation. Harish Rao was accompanied by party senior leader T Padma Rao, and their discussion with the CM lasted for over 30 minutes.
Sources revealed that the meeting was friendly and covered various issues. However, as soon as the news spread, Harish Rao dismissed any political motives behind it. He clarified that the meeting was solely about pending developmental projects and the delay in releasing funds for the Secunderabad Assembly constituency, represented by Padma Rao.
Speaking to the media after the meeting, Harish Rao explained that the previous BRS government had sanctioned ₹32 crore under the Special Development Fund (SDF) for constructing a high school, junior college, and degree college in Sithaphalmandi, Padma Rao’s constituency. However, due to the election code being enforced before the Assembly and Lok Sabha elections, neither the former BRS government nor the current Congress government had released the funds.
Harish Rao stressed that Padma Rao had requested him to accompany him to meet the CM and that there was no political significance to their visit. They also submitted a memorandum urging the CM to speed up the fund release for the projects.
Sources confirmed that the discussion remained focused on development matters, with no major political topics being raised. Harish Rao and the CM also exchanged views on the ongoing budget session of the Assembly. Meanwhile, CM Revanth Reddy has been targeting former CM K Chandrashekhar Rao in his absence during Assembly debates. However, sources reiterated that the meeting between the CM and BRS leaders was only a general discussion, with no deeper political implications.
