The Rural Medical Practitioners (RMPs) and Private Medical Practitioners (PMPs) in Telangana staged a large protest, demanding the government to stop filing cases against them. They also urged the government to fulfill its pre-election promise of providing training and official recognition under Government Order (GO) 429.
The protest took place at Dharna Chowk near Indira Park on Monday. Members of the Telangana Grameena Vaidyula Samakhya, an association representing RMPs and PMPs, participated in the demonstration.
Addressing the protesters, Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) leader T. Harish Rao criticized the Congress government, accusing it of failing to keep its promises. He claimed that the government’s inaction was causing distress across various sections of society.
Harish Rao condemned the police for allegedly harassing RMPs and PMPs. He accused the Congress of going back on its election promise of providing training and certification to these practitioners.
“Instead of keeping their commitment, they are filing cases and destroying livelihoods,” he said. He pointed out that during the previous BRS government, there were no such police cases or attacks on RMPs and PMPs. However, under the current government, people are living in fear, uncertain about when they might be arrested.
Harish Rao demanded that the government immediately withdraw all cases against RMPs and PMPs and implement the promised training and certification program.
