BRS leader T Harish Rao strongly condemned the arrest of party MLC K Kavitha, calling it ‘undemocratic’, ‘illegal’, and ‘immoral’. He announced protests in all Assembly constituencies on Saturday in response to the arrest. Rao criticized the BJP leaders for speaking like ED officers and stated that the timing of Kavitha’s arrest was suspicious, coming just before the notification for the Lok Sabha elections. He expressed confidence in the judiciary and vowed to fight the arrest legally.

Rao accused the BJP and Congress of conspiring to demoralize the party ahead of the LS elections and emphasized that arrests and conspiracies were not new to them. He questioned the urgency of Kavitha’s arrest, especially since the case was scheduled for a hearing in the Supreme Court on March 19. Rao described the arrest as politically motivated and part of a larger conspiracy to affect the upcoming elections. He highlighted that party leaders had been harassed in the past and viewed Kavitha’s inclusion as an accused as politically driven.

According to Rao, the arrest of Kavitha was pre-planned, with authorities initially claiming they were conducting searches and later deciding to make an arrest. He criticized the lack of opportunity for Kavitha to go to court before being taken into custody. Rao affirmed the party’s commitment to protest against such actions and reiterated their trust in the judiciary. Former Minister G Jagadish Reddy also addressed the press conference.
