Legislative Council chairman Gutha Sukhender Reddy said that the BJP is expected to gain in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections because of the Ayodhya Ram Mandir. He mentioned that the BJP’s vote share is likely to increase from three-four percent in the Lok Sabha elections, but the actual impact will be known after the results. Reddy denied being unhappy with his party and emphasized that his main concern is to save the party in the state.
Reddy stated that when the party is strong, everyone will come forward to contest elections. He mentioned that those who contest elections when the party is facing a crisis can be helpful. He acknowledged that some people may oppose his family in Nalgonda, but not everyone will be unhappy or opposing him. Reddy clarified that he will not be involved in politics anymore and will not contest elections.
Reddy shared that his son Amit would contest the elections if permitted by the party. He added that if Sonia Gandhi contests from Nalgonda, his son would be ready to join the race. Reddy addressed rumors of him getting closer to the Congress by explaining that he sought a ticket from the BRS and is waiting for directions from the party on contesting.
Regarding government responsibility, Reddy stressed that it is crucial for the government to ensure that projects do not fall under the purview of the Krishna River Management Board. He urged Irrigation minister N Uttam Kumar Reddy to resolve this issue as there is a risk of water crisis in the future.
In response to a question, Reddy mentioned that the next budget session will be held in the old Assembly building as work has already begun.
