Hyderabad: Mild tension occurred at Indira Park on Friday when the police used force on a group of Group-1 exam aspirants. These candidates were holding a rally, asking the government to postpone the Mains exams, which are scheduled for October 21.

The aspirants carried placards and shouted slogans, demanding the exam be delayed. However, the police stopped them because they did not have permission to protest. After a confrontation between the police and the protestors, the police used lathis (sticks) to disperse the crowd.

The protestors have been upset with the Telangana State Public Service Commission (TSPSC) due to changes made to the selection process for Group-1 services earlier this year. These changes were introduced through a government order called GO-29. The main issue for the aspirants is the 1:50 selection ratio, which they believe is unfair.

The candidates are worried that the current selection process will not be fair and are asking the state government to fix the issue. They want the recruitment procedure to be more transparent and just.

At the moment, the Telangana High Court is hearing petitions from the aspirants who are challenging GO-29. The next hearing is scheduled for November 20. “It would be better if the Telangana government delays the Group-1 Mains exam until the court case is resolved,” said Umesh, one of the aspirants.
