The match was held at the Madrid Arena and saw Tunjung dominate throughout, winning the first set 21-16 and the second set 21-18. Sindhu had earlier made it to the final after defeating Yeo Jia Min of Singapore in a thrilling semi-final. This was Sindhu’s first final of the 2023 season, having missed the entire second half of the 2022 season due to an injury sustained during the Commonwealth Games in Birmingham in August.
