The Bathukamma celebrations brought a festive and community spirit to the CAR headquarters in Amberpet today. The event was organized by the Rachakonda Women Police and was a major attraction. Rachakonda Police Commissioner, Sudhir Babu IPS, was the Chief Guest. He began the celebrations by lighting the ceremonial Jyoti (lamp), which is a traditional way of marking the occasion. He spoke about how proudly women in Telangana celebrate the Bathukamma festival.
During his speech, Commissioner Sudhir Babu explained the importance of both the Bathukamma and Dussehra festivals in the Telugu states. He expressed his admiration for the women of Telangana, saying, “Every woman in Telangana celebrates Bathukamma with great pride, and it’s our duty to ensure that they can do so in a pleasant atmosphere.” He also applauded the efforts of women police officers who help preserve these traditions.
In a significant announcement, the Commissioner shared plans to improve the welfare of women police officers. He revealed that special rest rooms with modern facilities will be built for female officers, as a Dussehra gift. A total of ₹17,17,500 has been allocated from the Rachakonda welfare fund for this purpose. Additionally, ₹75,000 has been set aside to create a canteen at the Bhuvanagiri CAR headquarters, to help provide better food options for police personnel.
Commissioner Sudhir Babu also assured that security measures are being put in place for the upcoming Bathukamma celebrations within the Rachakonda region. He acknowledged the dedication and hard work of women police officers who ensure both safety and a festive atmosphere during such events.
Several notable officers attended the event, including DCP Padmaja IPS, DCP Praveen Kumar IPS, DCP Sunitha Reddy, Admin DCP Indira, DCP Muralidhar, DCP Ramana Reddy, Additional DCP Shyam Sundar, and Venkat Reddy, President of the Police Association. Many women police officers were also present and actively participated in the ceremony.
The Commissioner concluded by reaffirming his commitment to empowering the women of the Rachakonda Police. He emphasized that this empowerment would help ensure efficient public service and maintain order during the festive season.
