Hyderabad:
The Saddula Bathukamma celebrations at Tank Bund on October 9 will see around 10,000 women taking part. The State government has made detailed plans to ensure everything goes smoothly for the event.
Chief Secretary Shanti Kumari held a high-level meeting at the Secretariat on Tuesday to review the preparations. She mentioned that thousands of women will begin their journey from the Martyrs Memorial, located opposite the Secretariat, and head towards Tank Bund. They will be accompanied by hundreds of artists showcasing their talents. Public representatives are also expected to attend the festival on a stage that will be set up at Tank Bund.
To mark the occasion, special fireworks and laser shows will be held at the Buddha statue and Sanjeevayya Park. Additionally, Bathukamma displays have been arranged at 150 major intersections across the city. Many junctions will also be decorated with electric lights. Officials have been instructed to light up all major offices in Hyderabad to add to the festive atmosphere.
The Hyderabad Metropolitan Development Authority (HMDA) and Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) have been given the responsibility of making special arrangements for Bathukamma immersion along Necklace Road. There will also be a Bathukamma Ghat set up in Tank Bund Children’s Park for the event.
