Telangana Governor Dr Tamilisai Soundararajan emphasized the importance of making advanced fertility treatments accessible to underprivileged individuals. She made these remarks while inaugurating an international conference on ‘Reproductive Health’ and the 34th annual meeting of the Indian Society for the Study of Reproduction and Fertility (ISSRF) 2024. The Governor stressed the need for innovations to ensure that treatments for reproductive health and fertility are affordable for everyone.
Dr Soundararajan highlighted the significance of ensuring that reproductive techniques are not only beneficial but also accessible to people in rural areas and those with limited resources. She emphasized the emotional impact of fertility problems on families and called for a subtle approach in addressing these issues. The Governor also praised the integration of Ayush and Allopathy medicines, citing examples like yoga leading to an increase in normal deliveries.
Dr Roya Rozati, the organizing secretary of ISSRF 2024, was commended for her efforts in arranging the conference on such a crucial topic. The conference aimed to advance the treatment of fertility medicine through scientific papers, protocols, and discussions. Renowned scientists, academicians, and delegates from various parts of the country were participating in the event.
During the conference, the Governor released the ISSRF 2024 souvenir and presented lifetime achievement awards to several individuals for their contributions to reproductive medicine. Notable figures like Professor G P Talwar, Padma Shri Professor Balram Bharghava, and Dr Nandita Palshetkar were recognized for their work in the field. ISSRF President Professor N K Lohiya, ISSRF Secretary Professor (Dr) R S Sharma, and other esteemed guests were also in attendance.
