    Telangana Governor Announces Awards for Excellence

    Telangana Governor Jishnu Dev Varma has introduced the ‘Governor’s Awards for Excellence-2024’ to honor individuals and organizations for their exceptional contributions and voluntary service. These awards aim to recognize efforts in key areas such as environmental protection, welfare of persons with disabilities (divyangjan), sports and games, and culture.

    In the individual category, the awardees include Dusharla Satyanarayana for Environment Protection, Arikapudi Raghu for Divyangjan Welfare, Jeevanji Deepthi for Sports and Games, and P B Krishna Bharti and M Panduranga Rao for Culture. Under the organization category, the winners are Druvansh (Environment Protection), LV Prasad Institute (Divyangjan Welfare), Aditya Mehta Foundation (Sports and Games), and Samskruti Foundation (Culture).

    The awards will be presented by the Governor at a special ceremony on January 26. Each recipient will receive a cash prize of Rs 2 lakh and a citation acknowledging their remarkable achievements. This year, a total of 594 applications were submitted across the four categories, highlighting significant interest in these prestigious awards.

    The applicants ranged in age from 16 to 89 years, with 331 entries coming from urban areas and 263 from rural Telangana. The awards also showcased gender diversity, with 356 male applicants, 96 female applicants, and one transgender applicant. This inclusive representation reflects the spirit of the awards.

    K Padmanabhaiah, a retired IAS officer and Padma Bhushan awardee who chaired the jury, shared details of the selection process. He stated that applications were invited from individuals and organizations excelling in their respective fields, with submissions accepted both online and offline.
