The Election Commission has told the Telangana government to hold off on giving out payments for the Rythu Bharosa scheme until after the Lok Sabha elections on May 13. This decision was made because Chief Minister Revanth Reddy talked about the payments in his speeches, which goes against the Model Code of Conduct.
Revanth Reddy broke the rules by mentioning the upcoming payments before May 9. All 17 Lok Sabha seats in Telangana will have elections in the fourth phase on May 13. The Election Commission said that the balance installment for the Rythu Bharosa scheme will only be given out after the elections are over.
The Commission is worried about politicians trying to use the scheme for their own gain during the elections. They think that this could influence voters and make the elections unfair. They want to make sure that everyone has an equal chance during the voting process.
