Hyderabad is facing water scarcity during the peak summer months of April and May. The Agriculture and Irrigation Departments are working together to distribute drinking water from reservoirs and projects to address this issue. The government is confident that there will be enough drinking water in Hyderabad thanks to the available water resources.

Chief Secretary Santhi Kumari held a video conference with district collectors to assess the drinking water situation. Emergency pumping from reservoirs and drawing water from various projects will be part of the plan to ensure an adequate supply of drinking water. The chief secretary assured that there is no problem with drinking water this summer as the main reservoirs have sufficient water.

Funds have been allocated to districts to support the drinking water supply, and necessary repairs to bore wells and pipes have been completed. Collectors have been instructed to address any management errors promptly to prioritize uninterrupted water supply. They are also required to hold daily teleconferences with field-level officials to monitor the water supply situation.

Despite the lack of rainfall in the State, the main reservoirs have maintained their water levels from last year. Alternative arrangements are being made to address any potential shortages in some areas. Municipal and village administrative deficiencies are being resolved quickly to ensure a steady water supply. Water board officials have reported that while there is enough water in Hyderabad, the demand is high due to commercial needs.

The video conference was attended by officials from various departments, including Municipal and Urban Development, Panchayat Raj and Rural Development, and the Water Board. Special measures are being taken to ensure that all planned works are completed on time, with a focus on operation and maintenance.
