Hyderabad: Government Whip Beerla Ilaiah on Monday accused BRS leader T Harish Rao and his business interests of harming the State-owned Vijaya Dairy. He claimed that Harish Rao and his wife’s milk products company made profits at the expense of other well-established companies.

Speaking to the media at the Assembly premises, Ilaiah criticized the BRS government, saying that during its decade-long rule, the state not only experienced poor governance but also saw instances of milk adulteration. He blamed Harish Rao for the losses faced by other milk product companies, including the government-owned Vijaya Dairy. He also questioned why Harish Rao, who previously served as the finance minister, had not resigned as a legislator, especially after the ruling Congress fulfilled its promise of waiving farm loans.

Ilaiah further alleged that both Harish Rao and BRS working president K T Rama Rao were competing to become the Leader of the Opposition, as Chief Minister KCR rarely attends Assembly sessions. He compared the two leaders to the infamous duo “Ranga-Billa” and said that the BRS was struggling to accept the widespread support the current government was receiving. According to Ilaiah, this frustration led them to resort to political tricks.

The Government Whip also criticized the decision by KTR to form a fact-finding committee, arguing that such actions could harm medical services in the state. He said that these moves would lower the morale of doctors working in government hospitals. Additionally, he questioned whether KTR, as a minister, had ever visited a hospital to understand the situation firsthand.
