Hyderabad: Health Minister C Damodar Raja Narsimha has instructed officials to ensure that basic medical services like general medicine, surgery, gynaecology, and paediatrics are available in Vaidya Vidhana Parishad (VVP) hospitals.

The Minister held a review meeting to discuss proposals made by the Administrative Staff College of India (ASCI). These proposals aim to strengthen the performance of Telangana Vaidya Vidhana Parishad (TVVP) hospitals and its role as the secondary healthcare directorate. He highlighted that a majority of patients are treated in district and area hospitals under TVVP. Therefore, these hospitals should be equipped with all necessary facilities.

The Minister advised officials to consider both current and future needs when making changes to the proposals. This includes thinking about outpatient (OP), inpatient (IP), and bed capacity. He emphasized that hospitals should follow Indian Public Health Standards (IPHS) and have the appropriate number of clinical and non-clinical staff. The government is willing to approve additional posts if needed. He also stressed that staff promotions and other service-related matters should be handled carefully to avoid legal issues.
