    Government to Allocate ₹10,820 Crore for Irrigation Projects This Year: Uttam

    Hyderabad: The Irrigation and Civil Supplies Minister, N Uttam Kumar Reddy, announced on Sunday that the budget has allocated Rs 10,820 crore to the irrigation sector.

    Reddy spoke to the media at Jal Soudha, where he reviewed the status of the Irrigation department with advisers, secretaries, and engineering staff from across the state. He focused on budget allocations and the progress of various projects.

    The Minister revealed that the government plans to create an additional 30 lakh-acre ayacut in Telangana over the next five years. He highlighted the government’s dedication to improving the irrigation sector, which will benefit both farmers and the general public.

    Reddy reviewed the progress of key projects and discussed measures to speed up the work. He assured that there would be no shortage of funds for these priority projects, stating that the budget allocation is sufficient.

    The Minister emphasized the importance of completing field-level tasks on time. He warned that any negligence in work would not be tolerated and stressed the need for committed and sincere efforts. Contractors who cause delays or act negligently would face consequences.

    Reddy also underscored the need for quick completion of priority projects and resolving issues at the field level. He warned that officials whose negligence impacts farmers and crops adversely would face action. He stressed the importance of effective operation and maintenance of canals and tanks, regular inspections, and flood prevention measures.

    Additionally, Reddy highlighted the necessity of completing work transparently and in compliance with regulations. He mentioned that State-level reviews would be conducted every 15 days.

    The Minister concluded by emphasizing the importance of discipline and responsibility in completing the projects.

    Irrigation adviser Adityanath Das, secretary Rahul Bojja, Prashant Patil, ENC Anil, and other officials were present at the meeting.
