Telangana Government Reshuffles Over 170 Secretariat Officials
The Telangana government has announced a significant reshuffle in its Secretariat. On Friday, more than 170 Section Officers were transferred in a single day. This decision comes amidst allegations of information leaks to Opposition parties and concerns over the under-performance of some officials.
Chief Secretary Santhi Kumari issued the transfer orders, which impacted Section Officers across various departments. Officials revealed that several ministers and departmental secretaries had raised concerns about the sincerity of officers who had been serving in the same department for over four years.
Some of these officers were reportedly maintaining close ties with Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) leaders. There were allegations that they leaked sensitive information to certain individuals, causing difficulties for the government in making critical decisions. Additionally, some officers were found to be uncooperative in processing files and coordinating departmental transactions.
Key government departments, including Finance, Education, Irrigation, Municipal Administration, Urban Development, Medical and Health, Energy, and Panchayat Raj, have been under scrutiny. Official activities in these departments are being closely monitored, and the Vigilance and Enforcement wing has carried out inspections to identify uncooperative officials.
The transferred officers have now been assigned to new departments and tasked with fulfilling their new responsibilities. Officials also mentioned that the performance of Assistant Section Officers (ASOs) is currently under review, and many of them may face transfers in the near future based on their performance.
