The Centre has extended the deadline for linking Aadhar with ration cards to September 30. In Hyderabad, the State government is identifying beneficiaries for new ration cards through a screening process. The new cards will cover six Congress guarantees.
Authorities are verifying the eligibility of over 24 lakh families who applied during the ‘Praja Palana’ special drive. Around 5.5 lakh families have applied under GHMC limits, with officials ensuring only eligible families receive cards. In districts, Self Help Groups and outsourcing employees are verifying and identifying eligible families.
Eligible families will receive super fine rice through the Public Distribution System, along with government guarantees like Rs 500 gas cylinders and free electricity up to 200 units. Following a recent Cabinet meeting, Irrigation Minister N Uttam Kumar Reddy announced that all eligible families will soon receive white ration cards.
The distribution of fresh ration cards will begin, and cardholders will receive fine rice within three months. The Union Ministry of Consumer Affairs, Food, and Public Distribution extended the Aadhar linking deadline to September 30 to curb corruption and make subsidy distribution easier.
