Hyderabad: The Supreme Court has stopped the cutting of trees on 400 acres of land in Kancha Gachibowli, near Hyderabad Central University. In response, Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy is working quickly to present a strong case to the court. His focus is on protecting the greenery and following wildlife protection rules.
The Chief Minister has asked Chief Secretary Santhi Kumari and senior forest officials to get legal help and prepare a detailed report. This report will be submitted during the court’s next hearing. Following the court’s orders, the Telangana State Industrial Infrastructure Corporation (TSIIC) and Revenue officials have stopped all tree-cutting work. Machines used for cutting trees and removing stones have also been removed from the area.
To strengthen the government’s case, the Chief Minister has asked the Forest and Environment Department and his office to prepare a counterargument. This will be done with the help of legal and environmental experts. The issue is about saving the environment on the 400-acre land, which is planned for a future IT park.
Although the area has many trees, it is not officially marked as a forest. Still, the government says it is committed to protecting the local environment. Special attention will be given to nearby water bodies like Peacock Lake and Buffalo Lake, which are important for local wildlife.
Revenue officials have informed the Chief Minister about the ongoing work to prepare the land for the IT park. In response, he has asked TSIIC officials to visit the site on Friday. They will take photos and videos of the plants and animals in the area. This evidence will be given to the Supreme Court during the next hearing on April 11.
The government now faces the challenge of proving that the IT park can be built without harming the natural surroundings. Since a lot of construction is needed, TSIIC officials are asking the Forest and Environment Department for advice on how to protect wildlife while continuing development.
Once all the reports are ready, the Chief Minister will hold a review meeting. The goal is to understand the environmental impact and create a solid plan to protect nature and wildlife while moving forward with the IT park project.
