Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Vikramarka Mallu and Irrigation Minister N Uttam Kumar Reddy have announced that the Telangana government will allocate sufficient funds in the 2025-2026 budget to complete important irrigation projects.
During a pre-budget meeting at the Dr. BR Ambedkar Secretariat on Monday, the ministers discussed key projects with officials from the Irrigation and Civil Supplies Departments. They emphasized the importance of completing the SLBC project and setting up the fifth pump in the AMRP. Additionally, they directed officials to speed up studies on the Sitarama project in the old Khammam district and the Paleru reservoir connected to the Godavari River.
Officials were also instructed to prioritize work on canals, such as those from Baswapur to Singur in the Godavari basin and from Eedula to Vattem-Eedula in the old Mahabubnagar district.
The ministers stressed the need to complete projects under the Dindi Lift Irrigation Scheme, especially those close to completion. They also urged officials to focus on land acquisition, managing older projects, and capital works in the upcoming financial year.
Bhatti Vikramarka highlighted the benefits of modernizing irrigation projects and lining canals, stating that these improvements would extend the life of the projects and help in the efficient use of water. He also suggested forming a special legal team to resolve land disputes related to irrigation projects. Furthermore, he directed officials to complete the gate parameters for all medium and minor projects in the state and to prioritize strengthening canal infrastructure.
